Jan 05, 2017
Ex husband of Mariah Carey, Tommy Mottola, wrote a letter toThe New York Post about her New Year's Eve performance.
Mottola, an ex Sony Music Entertainment head, was married to Carey for several years and helped her in her singing career. On her New Year's Eve debacle, Mottola advised that Carey should change over her management team.
"[Mariah should]hire more seasoned and respected professionals", wrote Mottola.
Many people have weighed in after the headline grabbing performance by Carey onDick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve With Ryan Seacrest during which she claimed not to be able to hear through headsets. Some have alleged that Dick Clark Productions purposely sabotaged the performance for ratings that stemmed from an outing by Carey that went viral. DCP, for their part, is claiming that the reason for the sub par performance is that Carey neglected to rehearse.
"To suggest that dcp ... would ever intentionally compromise the success of any artist is defamatory, outrageous and frankly absurd," read a statement released by Dick Clark Productions.
Mottola continued to say that a newreality TV show Mariah's World, was a bad decision by the Mariah Carey management team as well.
"[Mariah's World]does absolutely nothing for her integrity, her credibility, or her massive talent," said Mottola. "She should take a step back, think carefully and figure out what to do next."
"Really? Tommy is a relic. Did he give you that statement from a rotary phone?" commented a manager for Carey, Stella Bulochnikov.
