Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt Divorce truce
In one of the messiest divorces of current times involving one of the most influential power couples, it seems a truce has been arrived on, after accusations, counter-accusations, mud-slinging, name calling, and the revelations have characterized the divorce process from the beginning.
Hiring a private judge is a very expensive undertaking that most people cannot afford, but it secures their privacy of the divorce documents, children, and details of the settlement.
According to a joint statement released by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, they have decided, for the sake of the six children they share, to hire a private judge to sort out the divorce.
According to California Divorce Attorney David Pisarra, the agreement could have been influenced by both parties' lawyers who felt that without washing their dirty linen in public, the divorce process would be quicker, more private and in the best interests of the children.
"Everything will now happen inside a private judge's chambers and out of the public," David says. "There will be a few more final documents, but this should be the end of public mudslinging. Everything may now end super quick. Maybe a month? My guess is they'll move quickly to get it over with now,"
The couple, who have been together for 12 years, but have been married for two, have undergone a bitter battle for custody and settlement of assets, with Jolie vowing to fight for everything and anything.
The joint statement is the only thing the couple has, agreed upon since Jolie filed for divorce in September 2016
